What ever happened to the fear of the Lord?
Hi everyone,
I have been wondering lately, what ever happened to the fear of the Lord? And why do so many Christians continue to sin willfully and habitually? Some even do so in a premeditated fashion, knowing that what they are about to do is wrong and doing it anyway because they know that God will forgive them.
Mat 4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Mat 4:7
Thou shalt not tempt - To expose myself to any danger naturally destructive, with the vain presumption that God will protect and defend me from the ruinous consequences of my imprudent conduct, is to tempt God.
I have even heard those with degrees in theology and so called Christian counselors say that even though the advise that they give goes against what the Bible teaches, they will give it anyway, they feel free to lead others astray because they feel that our gracious and merciful God will forgive them. God gives us instruction in His word, do they really think that they know better than God ?
Pro 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Deu 10:12 And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
Deu 10:13 To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
Pro 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
We all need to get back to having a good, healthy, fear of the Lord. We need to stop abusing our liberty in Christ. Philippians 2:12 says that we need to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. What does this mean to you and how do you apply this to your life?
Php 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Work out your own salvation - Go on, walking by the same rule, and minding the same thing, till your salvation be completed: till, filled with love to God and man, ye walk unblamably in all his testimonies, having your fruit unto holiness, and your end everlasting life.
With fear and trembling - Considering the difficulty of the work, and the danger of miscarriage. If you do not watch, pray and continually depend on God, your enemies will surprise you, and your light and life will become extinct; and then consider what an awful account you must give to Him whose Spirit ye have grieved, and of whose glory ye have come short.
Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
So let me ask you this, do you have a good healthy fear of the Lord?
Yes, I have a reverent fear of the Lord. And because of my fear, I try to live my life to glorify HIM and obey all HIS commandments. I have no desire to be a disappointment to the Lord even though I may disappoint 'man' here and there on earth. But it is better to please the Lord than man.

I agree with everything you posted. Yes, I fear the Lord. I can hardly believe the some theologians and some Christian counselers would give unbiblical advice. This falls in line with the end times.
Jesus told us quiet a few times that we should take care that no man decieves us because in the last days many will come in my name and decieve many. This is sad but because many do not fear God we are seeing an increase in false prophets, teachers, apostle, etc.
Jesus also warned us that not everyone who says"Lord,Lord" shall enter into the kingdom of heaven. Take heed, it is wriiten that he who teaches other to disobey even the least of these commandments shall be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven.
So as we can see there are so many reasons throughout scripture to be careful with this gift that we have been given. Indeed lets stop abusing the liberty we have in Christ Jesus our Lord.
It is better to please the Lord than man. I also fear the Lord our God and without that fear, I would probably find all kinds of excuses to sin. I get so tired of hearing other believers use the fact that we live in a fallen world as an excuse for persistent sin. We are not of this world...praise God!
I truly believe that we are in the last days, and as 2 Timothy 3:1-5 says
You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and un grateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that.
Does this not sound like the world we live in today. Also, the fact that most "christians" are more intrested in cheap grace than the real deal. Just give $3.00 worth of God, I don't have time for the whole thing right now. Or, if I do this thing all the way I may have to give up some my stuff ( this can be material or emotional) and I'm not ready to do that. sound familiar. All we can do is walk our own walk remembering who we will have to answer to on judgement day, and keep praying for the others. God Bless you.
